All servers have separate boot drives. For custom configurations please schedule a meeting.

Network based block storage, object storage, and file systems that are large scale and based on hard drives (spinning media) greatly benefit from a high performance caching layer and high CPU ratio. Storage Large V3 are highlighted specifically due to: 

  • Featuring 4 x 4TB SSD NVMe drives and 12 x 18TB hard drives.  The NVMe drives cache reads and writes above the spinning media. This dramatically improves I/O.
  • Featuring large CPUs and 256GB of RAM. Ceph leverages the powerful CPUs for erasure coding that maximizes disk space while providing redundancy.

Pricing FAQs, Eligibility and Usage Restrictions

Each OpenMetal Cloud that you create has a top-level budget set by the OpenMetal Central Admin level users for that cloud. As the admin, you set the maximum daily cost of your cluster. Whenever a server is requested, the interface or API will first check if your private cloud price would exceed your budget. If it exceeds your budget, the request is denied.
Your budget is found under the Settings in each individual Cloud. It can also be set when first provisioning the Cloud.

Different regions have different legal requirements for content and workloads that are your responsibility to understand and conform with.

Certain usage may place you in a different billing bracket. This is typically determined by the power utilization of your servers. You will be notified and have up to 60 days to address the utilization before moving into the new billing bracket. For activities like crypto-mining, there is no grace period. Please notify your Account Manager if you believe your workload is likely to have high continuous power consumption. They will provide you with options and pricing for these special cases.

OpenMetal Central (FMC) is the central overarching API (and dashboard) that is typically used by IT Leadership. Within FMC hardware is organized by “Cloud Projects”. This allows IT Leadership to spin up multiple separate Clouds and set budget limits on what can be added to an individual project. Sign up in OpenMetal Central.

OpenMetal uses Open Source technology for all major systems.  There are no license fees for any Ceph feature supplied in the standard storage cluster.

It is free to sign up for OpenMetal Central. You will have access to a dashboard that allows you to take steps to begin your private cloud.

All billing is Monthly for stand alone storage clusters.  This is based on your agreement.

Each storage cluster comes with a base egress bandwidth allowance. Currently there’s no charge for ingress. There is no current way to limit your bandwidth usage from our side but we encourage you to use the tools within OpenStack and Linux that can limit bandwidth usage. For Egress usage beyond the base cluster allowance you can check out or egress pricing or lock in your rate with a bandwidth plan from sales. 

For guaranteed bandwidth plans, please contact Sales. The typical plan is:

  • For Egress, you are billed on the 95th Percentile at $0.37 per Mbit per week. Your 95th Percentile is calculated against the number of days up to 7 days. The minimum usage commitment is 100Mbits at $37.00/wk. Higher commits yield lower per mbit costs.

We reserve the right to implement limitations and restrictions at any time if you are not on a guaranteed bandwidth plan

The current network performance for 2024 is 99.96%. The base SLA is 99.96%.
