OpenMetal Acquires Economize, Launches Labs to Help Businesses Optimize Their Cloud and AI Infrastructure

The acquisition brings Economize’s FinOps expertise and software together with OpenMetal’s private cloud, bare metal, and GPU infrastructure under one accountable provider, and launches Labs to build custom solutions for complex infrastructure and cost challenges.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., September 30, 2026 — OpenMetal today announced it has acquired Economize, a cloud cost management platform for engineering, finance, and FinOps teams. Together, the companies give customers one provider for understanding their cloud spend, deciding what should run where, and keeping it optimized. The acquisition also launches OpenMetal Labs, a new offering that builds custom infrastructure and cost solutions for unique business needs.

The move addresses something OpenMetal has watched infrastructure-heavy businesses struggle with for years: getting fair unit economics from a vendor that stands behind the infrastructure their business runs on. Many companies run a customized blend of public cloud and private infrastructure, with AI and GPU spend taking a growing share of budgets. Economize shows teams where that money goes. OpenMetal gives them a better place to run workloads when private infrastructure is the right fit.
