What’s New – February 2026
We’ve been busy building. Over the past several months, OpenMetal Central has received a wave of new capabilities – from a full-featured public API and developer sandbox to self-service account management. Here’s everything that’s changed.
New Features
Public API & Developer Tools
You can now integrate OpenMetal Central directly into your workflows using our new public API. Create and manage OAuth applications and API keys with read, write, and manage permissions scoped to your organization. API keys support IP address restrictions – including CIDR blocks – giving you fine-grained control over who can access your resources programmatically.
We’ve also introduced a dedicated API sandbox environment so you can safely build and test integrations without touching production. Generate sandbox credentials directly from Central and iterate with confidence knowing sandbox and production behavior stay consistent.
Full API documentation is available at openmetal.io/docs/manuals/api, covering everything from provisioning servers and managing orders to configuring VLANs, IP blocks, and server decommissioning.
Custom Deployment Configurations
You can now define reusable deployment configurations consisting of custom OS images and cloud-init scripts. Select these configurations when provisioning new servers through the checkout system or when adding hardware to an existing cloud – making it easier than ever to standardize your deployments.
Audit Logging
OpenMetal Central now logs key actions performed by users within your organization. View a complete activity history from the new Audit Logs page, accessible from the organization sidebar. This gives you better visibility into who did what and when across your infrastructure.
Self-Service Account Deletion
You can now delete your Central account directly from your profile settings. Initiating a deletion schedules your account for permanent removal after a 24-hour grace period, during which all personal data is anonymized or purged in compliance with GDPR. Cloud services owned at the organization level remain unaffected – this process revokes individual access and handles personal data cleanup.
Server Reprovisioning
A new Reprovision tool lets you reinstall an existing node that’s already assigned to your cluster. Choose an alternate operating system or deployment configuration without replacing the physical hardware. This tool is now available directly to customers from the Central UI.
Soft Reboots & Soft Power Offs
You now have the option to perform graceful reboots and graceful power-offs on your servers directly from the Central UI, giving you more control over how your infrastructure is managed.
IP Block & VLAN Management Tools
You can now delete IP address blocks and VLANs directly from within Central. Built-in safeguards prevent accidental removal — IP blocks cannot be deleted if they have individual IP allocations or are assigned to a VLAN, and VLANs cannot be deleted if they have child IP blocks or are in use by any clouds. System-generated IP blocks and VLANs are protected. You can also unassign an IP address block from a VLAN directly through the UI.
Promo Codes
You can now apply promotional discount codes during the checkout process. Enter a promo code when placing an order to receive applicable discounts on your deployment.
Improvements
Expanded API Capabilities
The public API now supports a broader set of operations:
- Order status tracking – Check cloud state from a single endpoint when monitoring order completion.
- IP address management – Allocate and deallocate individual IPs from a block to a server.
- VLAN and IP Block management – Configure, update, and retrieve VLANs and IP blocks programmatically.
- Server decommissioning – Full API support for decommissioning servers.
- End-to-end provisioning documentation – Complete walkthrough from inventory check through deployment status tracking.
Versioned Documentation
Our Operators Manual now supports version-specific documentation for each Private Cloud Core release. A PCC version indicator has been added to the Central UI so you always know which version your cloud is running and can reference the correct documentation.
What’s Next
These updates are part of our ongoing effort to give you more control, better visibility, and a smoother experience across OpenMetal Central. We’re continuing to expand the public API, improve automation capabilities, and refine the platform based on your feedback.
If you have questions or feedback, reach out to our support team – we’d love to hear from you.
