Q: Which OpenMetal servers support Intel TDX out of the box?

The XL v4, XL v4 High Frequency, and XXL v4 ship with Intel TDX enabled by default because their base RAM configurations meet or exceed the 1 TB threshold.

See bare metal pricing

TDX activation on OpenMetal servers is determined by total installed RAM. Servers with 1 TB or more of DDR5 ship with TDX enabled out of the box. The current TDX-ready lineup and their base RAM:

  • XL v4: 1,024 GB DDR5-4800 (2x Xeon Gold 6530, 64C/128T)
  • XL v4 High Frequency: 1,024 GB DDR5 (2x Xeon Gold 6544Y, 64C/128T)
  • XXL v4: 2,048 GB DDR5 (2x Xeon Gold 6530, 64C/128T)

The Large v4 and Large v5 are TDX upgrade-eligible: both have 8 open DIMM slots that can be populated to reach 1 TB, at which point TDX activates. This is a customer-initiated upgrade coordinated through the OpenMetal team. Intel SGX is available on all of these servers regardless of RAM configuration.

“Moving our Netherlands region onto OpenMetal completely changed how we operate. We went from a room full of aging leased hardware to a handful of modern NVMe-backed servers that are faster, denser, and far more cost-efficient. The best part was how easy the transition felt — our cloud stack didn’t need to change at all. It just worked.”
