Q: What costs are included in an OpenMetal Hosted Private Cloud monthly rate, and are there hidden fees?

OpenMetal’s monthly Hosted Private Cloud rate covers dedicated bare metal compute nodes, Ceph-backed block and object storage, private network traffic between nodes, and access to the OpenStack control plane including Horizon, Nova, Neutron, and Cinder.

Hardware procurement, rack space, power, cooling, and underlying infrastructure maintenance are all handled by OpenMetal within that flat rate.

The primary cost outside the base rate is public internet egress, which is billed using a 95th percentile bandwidth model rather than per-gigabyte metering. This model is dramatically less expensive than the egress fees charged by AWS, Azure, or GCP, and all traffic that stays within your private VLANs carries no additional charge. If you are not bringing your own IP addresses, additional IPv4 allocation beyond what is allocated per server or cloud will be charged separately.

There are no hidden surcharges for API calls, internal data transfer, or control plane access. OpenMetal does not charge extra for features like live VM migration, security group management, or S3-compatible object storage via Ceph RADOSGW. The pricing model is designed so that the monthly rate you see at deployment closely matches your ongoing bill, with public egress as the only meaningful variable.
