Q: Can I upgrade the RAM on a deployed OpenMetal XXL v4 bare metal server?
RAM on a deployed OpenMetal XXL v4 can be expanded beyond the base 2048GB configuration — the server has 32 DIMM slots and supports a maximum of 8192GB.
The base XXL v4 ships with all 32 DIMM slots populated at 2048GB. Scaling to 8192GB requires replacing the base DIMMs with higher-capacity modules; slot count does not change. RAM upgrades are coordinated through OpenMetal and involve a planned maintenance window — online DIMM replacement is not supported since all slots are populated at the base configuration.
Intel TDX is active at the base 2048GB configuration and remains active through any RAM upgrade. The 1TB TDX activation threshold is exceeded at base config, so no TDX reconfiguration is required after expanding memory on the XXL v4.
