Q: Can I upgrade the RAM on a deployed OpenMetal XXL v4 bare metal server?

No. The OpenMetal XXL v4 ships with all 32 DIMM slots populated at 2048GB, and 2TB is the maximum published memory configuration on the v4 generation, so there is no in-place RAM upgrade path.

Note: the XXL v4 is no longer in the OpenMetal catalog for new orders. The guidance below still applies to deployed units; for a new build, the XL v5 is the current equivalent.

The XXL v4 ships with all 32 DIMM slots populated at 2048GB, so there are no open slots to fill and the base configuration is already the full memory build for this server. If a workload needs more memory than 2TB, contact OpenMetal to discuss options on the current server generation rather than planning an upgrade on a deployed XXL v4.

Intel TDX is active at the 2048GB configuration. The 1TB TDX activation threshold is exceeded at base config, so TDX needs no memory change and no reconfiguration on the XXL v4.

To size a server with more memory than the XXL v4 provides, contact OpenMetal directly or use the quote form at openmetal.io/bare-metal-pricing.
