Q: What is the maximum RAM configuration on the OpenMetal XXL v4?
The maximum memory configuration on the OpenMetal XXL v4 is 2048GB (2TB) of DDR5 across all 32 DIMM slots, which is also its base configuration — 2TB is the maximum published memory configuration on the v4 generation.
Note: the XXL v4 is no longer in the OpenMetal catalog for new orders. The guidance below still applies to deployed units; for a new build, the XL v5 is the current equivalent.
The server ships with all 32 DIMM slots populated at base, so the base configuration is already the maximum published memory build. With 16 total memory channels (8 per socket across dual processors), that configuration maintains full channel utilization.
Intel TDX is active at the 2048GB configuration — the 1TB minimum TDX activation threshold is exceeded, so no memory change and no TDX reconfiguration is required.
For teams whose workloads will grow beyond 2TB — large in-memory databases, growing key management clusters, or expanding ML model inference workloads — the XXL v4 has no additional memory headroom to add, because all 32 slots are already populated. Contact OpenMetal to size a current-generation server for that growth.
