Q: What storage servers does OpenMetal offer for Ceph clusters?
OpenMetal offers dedicated storage servers built on a three-tier drive architecture (boot SSD, NVMe cache, HDD bulk) designed specifically for Ceph OSD nodes in compute + storage cluster deployments.
The current-generation storage lineup includes the Storage Large v4 and Storage Medium v4, both using the SSG-621E-ACR16L chassis with dual Xeon Silver 4510 processors. The Storage Large v4 provides 12x 20 TB SATA HDDs (240 TB raw), 4x 6.4 TB Micron 7500 MAX NVMe drives (25.6 TB cache), and 2x 960 GB boot SSDs in RAID 1. The Storage Medium v4 uses the same chassis with 6x 20 TB HDDs (120 TB) and 2x 6.4 TB NVMe (12.8 TB cache) [VERIFY Storage Medium v4 drive counts].
Storage servers connect to compute nodes (Large v4, XL v4, XXL v4) over the 20 Gbps LACP-bonded private mesh. The NVMe drives serve as Ceph WAL/DB and fast-tier cache, accelerating random I/O against the HDD pool. A typical deployment pairs 3 compute nodes with 2-3 storage nodes: for example, 3x Large v4 compute + 2x Storage Large v4 provides 96 cores, 1.5 TB RAM, and 480 TB raw HDD with 51.2 TB NVMe cache. Storage servers are available in Ashburn, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, and Singapore on fixed monthly pricing.
