Lauren may have gotten her start working as a cashier at PetSmart when she was in high school. But as much as she loved petting dogs all day, she knew it wasn’t meant to be forever.

Because of a love for computers, Lauren decided that computer science may be a good fit. Her father had developed his own access and building control software in the 80s, which allowed Lauren to be one of the first in her class with access to her own computer. She can’t remember what the model was but knows it was big, bulky, and ran Windows 95.

She headed out to Northern Arizona University to pursue a computer science degree but found herself in an overwhelming struggle with her mental health. This stress reached a pivotal point where Lauren was forced to take a step back and reassess what was best for her. She ended up deciding to put college on pause and move to Texas with her (now) husband to seek out new challenges.

Taking on a variety of roles in music promotions, retail, customer service, food service, and even as a contractor for a decorative concrete company, Lauren finally found her calling after starting work at a local managed IT service provider. She took ownership of their Marketing and built the department from the ground up.

For close to 10 years, Lauren honed her Marketing skill sets before bringing her talents to OpenMetal. Today she is reinventing the ways that we are doing marketing automation and driving inbound leads.

What sets Lauren apart is her desire to be genuine with customers and partners. Rather than feed into a machine of intrusive and unwarranted marketing activities, Lauren focuses on fixing problems and delivering value first and foremost.

Dream Job: Ice Cream Taste Tester – Once I found out that was an actual job, it was all I wanted growing up.

Favorite Quote: “Not my circus, not my monkeys.”  I can get overwhelmed worrying about things I have no control over, so remembering this saying always helps bring me back to reality.

Favorite Book: Lord of the Rings – This series will always have a special place in my heart. My dad read them to me when I was young. I read them many times again growing up and got my cynical husband to read and become obsessed with them, too. We even had a LOTR-themed wedding!
