Like most, Todd’s first work experience included simple jobs like mowing lawns, working at a wood shop doing cleanup and basic woodworking, and helping with odd jobs at a motel owned by his mother. But it was a Commodore 64 that helped him discover his true passion…technology.

Todd enrolled at Michigan Tech University and obtained a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Soon after, he began his professional career as an Engineer with Honda. But, that passion for technology combined with his engineering background, quickly changed his career path. As Todd immersed himself in a new (and rapidly growing) world of web hosting and internet technologies, it was clear to Todd where he would best apply his strengths.

In 2001, the first InMotion Hosting went online from a data center in Los Angeles. Offices quickly spread to additional footprints in Virginia Beach, and Denver. Today Todd, along with his co-founder, Sunil Saxena, oversee more than 125,000+ customers and 350+ team members via multiple company brands that include InMotion Hosting, BoldGrid, Web Hosting Hub, Ramnode.

As an open source advocate and ambassador for ongoing usage of OpenStack, Ceph and other key open technologies, Todd once again saw a challenge he wanted to resolve. He wanted to break down the complexity of accessing OpenStack and make it very simple for organizations and individuals of all sizes to use, helping to expand the open source community. His solution…OpenMetal.

Today, Todd Robinson is the President of OpenMetal, where he sets the strategic vision of the company, drives the product development of OpenMetal cloud services, and focuses on ensuring explosive growth.
