James (Jamie) Tischart
Chief Technology Officer
James (Jamie) Tischart brings decades of hands-on technology leadership, operational depth, and people-first mentorship to his role as CTO at OpenMetal. With a career that spans network administration, quality engineering, and executive technology leadership, Jamie has consistently operated at the intersection of business strategy and technical execution.
Jamie’s journey into technology began early. A childhood fascination with computers and video games, sparked by an Atari 2600 at age seven, evolved into a lifelong passion for understanding how systems connect people across the world. That curiosity led him into a Network Administrator role while still in college, where he gained a practical appreciation for the power and complexity of global connectivity.
He went on to begin his professional career at Corel as a Quality Assurance Engineer, where he developed a deep appreciation for customer experience, product quality, and the discipline required to build reliable software at scale. Since then, Jamie has worked across multiple companies, industries, and roles, learning from each environment and bringing forward lessons from both successes and failures.
Jamie holds a degree in Business Systems – Information Technology from St. Lawrence College in Brockville, Ontario, Canada and an MBA in Business from Aspen University in 2012. His education combined accounting, marketing, programming, and IT foundations, giving him a rare ability to bridge the gap between business objectives and technical realities — a skill that has defined his leadership style throughout his career.
Professional Philosophy
“Every failure is a lesson. Every success is a lesson. Every interaction has the opportunity to teach you.”
At OpenMetal, Jamie’s focus goes beyond infrastructure, architecture, or technology strategy. His deeper purpose is centered on people: helping teammates grow, mentoring others in their careers, and building meaningful professional relationships that last far beyond individual projects or companies.
